High prices and limited throughput have prevented 3G data services of getting widely used by subscribers. There is a demand for mobile broadband access which will not be satisfied in future by Wi-Fi wireless connectivity despite of its current wide usage due to related limited mobility. The question arises which of the future technologies
will meet best the requirements of affordable, high performance mobile broadband services. The rump session will include the whole foodchain views of semiconductor suppliers, terminal and basestation manufacturers, and service providers. The availability of competing standards and devices will be discussed. Issues like world wide coverage, network performance, user benefits, business models, market forces, when and what will be debated.
